New Year, New Start

It’s a new year, yay!  2010, alright.  After the celebrations, the congratulations, and the jubilations, you make resolutions.  The most common resolution is weight loss or some health related resolve.  Well, if weight loss is in your plans for 2010, or quitting smoking, or just improved digestion and health, I hereby suggest a cleanse.  A cleanse gets brand new yourid of poisons and toxins from the body for you to start anew.

How & why
You may benefit from a cleanse

The body has the ability to rid itself of toxins if given a chance.  As a matter of fact, it goes into cleansing mode as soon as some pressure is taken off it in the form of a fast, proper hydration, increased fiber intake, juices, certain dietary changes or a toxic overload.  The body is always trying to expel toxins through the colon; lungs, kidney, skin and mouth (see “channels of elimination”).

The best and most effective way to overcome most chronic illnesses and improve overall health is a cleanse or a fast.  Cleansing or detoxification eliminates excessive mucus and toxins from the body.  This is one reason fasting is common among Christians, especially at the beginning of the year.

When toxins (including pollutants, chemicals, heavy metals, drugs, and additives, even processed and undigested food) enter the body, the body produces mucus to carry them out before they become harmful.  However, this process is slowed or suspended as energy is diverted to digestion of food and other metabolic processes.  When you fast, cleansing takes effect, and the process is accelerated.

Cleansing plays an important role in every health program.  When the body does not get the help it needs to rid itself of toxins, the poisons and toxins accumulate in the colon; rots and eventually cause problems that could become severe, such as colitis, diverticulitis, leaky gut syndrome, celiac disease, and colon cancer.

Did U know?
There are more sensory nerves in the colon than are in the brain?  Toxic residue (i.e. accumulated waste materials) inflames and irritates the colon sending off “bad vibes” via these nerves all over the body.  Also, the immune system is compromised; and intestinal flora destroyed.  This is why irregular bowel movements often dictate someone’s mood, and general health.  When waste accumulates in the colon, the body gradually feels it; and the brain eventually acts like it!

The Bushmen learned this a long time ago from animals.  That’s right, watch a dog get sick: it goes into fasting mode, then eats grass; vomits; and gets well.  They eat grass for the Chlorophyll, and cellulose that help cleanse their systems.  Vomiting helps them get rid of the toxins.  Translation: cleansing boosts their overall health.

Benefits of a cleanse include:
Built-up waste elimination
Glands and cells purification
Toxins elimination
Increased energy
Stronger immune system
Improved organ function
Elimination of hardened material in joints and muscles
Nerves and arteries pressure and irritation relief

You may need a cleanse, but how can you tell?  What kind of cleanse do you need to achieve your goals?  See different types of cleanses here.

Bottom line
Cleanses help rejuvenate the body and restore health, everyone can benefit from a cleanse.
